LA TERRAZZA RESTAURANT ‘MAKES A NIGHT OF IT’
La Terrazza Restaurant and Lounge is proud to announce that this spring they will once again unite with local businesses and residents, voicing their demand for environmental change. Volunteers for the fourth, highly anticipated, Earth Hour are urging Vancouverites to switch off their lights from 8:30 until 9:30 pm.On March 27th 2009 La Terrazza will not only turn out the lights for an hour, their staff will be operating strictly by candlelight from open until close.
In 2007, 2.2 million Australians, in Sydney, simultaneously turned off their lights in a visual vote against global warming. In 2008, 35 more nations combined forces, and last year, over one billion people, in more than 80 countries participated. In alone, over 10 million individuals, and thousands of businesses participated in over 275 cities nationwide. This year, organizers are active in 110 countries. There has been confirmation that the Tokyo Tower in Tokyo, and the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin will be added this year to the list of Rome’s Coliseum, Sydney Opera House, Golden Gate Bridge, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square which will all stand in the dark for an hour.
La Terrazza invites you to enjoy this revolutionary event with someone special, by the soft glow of candlelight. A set menu, for $45 per person, will be offered alongside the regular dining menu.
Take part in an evening that harkens back to bygone days.Enjoy the moment. Savour simplicity; food, drink, and company. Vote in favour of Mother Earth.

About La Terrazza
La Terrazza is located at Pacific and Cambie in Yaletown, just outside of the hectic Hamilton and Mainland center. We are in our 9th year as Vancouver ’s premier Italian Restaurant.
La Terrazza‘s cuisine is both fresh and local, yet it is classic in many ways. Chef Gennaro Iorio works with as many west coast ingredients as he can and has an extensive and varied fresh fish list. We offer the more classic dishes one may sometimes crave, but don’t be fooled, spaghetti with meat sauce at La Terrazza means a sauce using sweet Okanagan grown tomatoes, ground prime beef tenderloin and fresh made pasta, as Chef Gennaro takes Italian dishes to a whole new level. This is Italian food at it’s finest!
The wine list is one of the most award winning in Canada with Wine Spectator Magazine giving it both the “Award of Excellence” and “Best of” “Award of Excellence, an award only a few receive. They have received these awards annually since the restaurants inception. Service is warm, genuine, attentive and professional.
La Terrazza, has established a reputation of being one of Vancouver’s most beautiful and detailed oriented restaurants. There are two elegant private rooms accommodating up to twenty five and fifty five people, a stunning garden surrounded patio and a lounge and bar that seats forty. The 110 seat dining room is one of Vancouver’s most romantic places to dine.

LA TERRAZZA BRINGS THE FIRST OF THE FRESH WHITE WINTER TRUFFLES (TUBER MAGNATUM) INTO VANCOUVER
________
La Terrazza presents a rare White Alba Truffle dinner Wednesday, December 5th 2007 Details of the dinner and menu below
About Truffles
White Alba truffles, found in the hill-country of Alba, Italy, definitely rank in the luxury class. Their production is highly limited as they grow solely in the wild and fluctuations in weather conditions can play havoc with their reproduction and growth. An uncultivable mushroom, the white Alba truffle is only in season from September through December.
Fresh white truffles or Tuber Magnatum are the diamonds of the over fifty species of truffles costing as much as $7,000 Cdn a pound wholesale. Found only in northern Italy, this extraordinarily aromatic delicacy can be served raw, shaved paper thin over dishes, or cooked into a dish. Leaving the ground in Italy from late September until late November the truffles are not rushed into use, rather ripening both in Italy and in the restaurant kitchens wrapped with paper in baskets in a cool dark place. Chefs smell the truffles daily until its aroma is to their liking not rushing the ripening process as the truffle will become more aromatic and flavourful as it ages. As a mere half an ounce can add $200 to the cost of a dish it is important to get the right intensity in the flavour.
On Wednesday, December 5th, La Terrazza will host a unique white truffle dining event. Celebrating the rarity of the white Alba truffle, La Terrazza and Fiorenzo Dogliani, Italian truffle farmer and owner of Batasiolo wineries, will prepare specialty dishes featuring freshly grated Alba truffles paired with world-class wines from Dogliani’s Beni Di Batasiolo collection.
La Terrazza has already established its reputation for taking Italian cuisine to a whole new level and is excited to welcome the white Alba truffle to its resume of unique wine dinners.
